Speaking of adding weight, what’s with all the pig iron in the passenger footwell? Is there a weight minimum and they are trying to keep it near the center of gravity?

The iron is used to balance the drivers weight. The lighter a car gets the greater is the impact if you would just increase the preload. That way you would run the same preload on both sides.

The car is for sale for some time now and it looks like they are quite desperate to get it sold. The price is, from looking at the pictures, ok and if it’s really a 2 liter car with documents to prove it, it could be a lot more competitive and compensate for the class disadvantage.
