Cost of Timing
« on: Tuesday,July 30, 2019, 10:01:27 AM »
This is a quick question to the group about the commercial shop cost of replacing the timing chain and re-timing a R-16 motor.   The shop I took my 1970 S2 Federal to claims to have retimed it, but no such work was carried out.

What would be a fair charge for retiming the R-16, without removing it from the car?

I’ve since completed the work myself, so the job’s done, but have no idea how much a professional mechanic would cost.  I’d like to know what to subtract for that and other charges for work not done from the bill.

Thanks,
Bruce
Yes, it's work...   No, I don't mind it.
