Water pump bolts
« on: Wednesday,April 03, 2019, 12:25:20 PM »
I am having trouble finding metric bolts. PO must have thought that an overtightend bolt would stop leaks. 3 of the 7 x 100 x65mm waterpump bolts ethier broken or have heads rounded. Anyone out there who can help me source them? Even a commercial supplier has no 7 mm stuff.

Canadian Tire has metric bolts here in BC. Not a huge range of sizes but I often find what I need.

Thanks, most stores have 6 and 8 mm 7 seems to be an odd size (literally and actually).

My choice in Alberta would be bolt supply.

M7 bolts and nuts can be ordered in Canada though bolt and industrial supply shops.  I ordered a range of sizes with nuts, locks and washers, no problem.  If your local supplier won’t help you, McMaster Carr will ship to Canada as long as it is to a business address.

Striking out re M7 x 1.0 x 60. Ray said that Hens teeth are easier to find on this side of the pond.

Amazon lists them.  I found other other sources but it will cost more than $1,  maybe as much as $25 butyou will have a lifetime supply.

I looked at Albany County Fasteners.com and they seem to have 6, 8, 10 etc.  but not 7mm.

Have you tried ebay? I found these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-M7x1-0x70-Bolts-7mm-x-70mm-Hex-head-Cap-Screw-grade-8-8-Zinc-M7-1-0-Screws/153061852667?hash=item23a33285fb:g:5X8AAOSwk95bIoqr:sc:USPSFirstClass!27606!US!-1

They are a little too long. They're 8.8 which I think means you'd have to grind the excess off but you might try to contact the seller to see if he has exactly what you need.

You want grade 8.8 bolts.  They can easily be cut with a hacksaw.
