Side window lift slide channel
« on: Sunday,December 30, 2018, 08:33:05 AM »
Does anyone know a good method to install the electric window lift slide onto a new side window?  It appears to be installed with just a piece of rubber between the metal slide and the window.

on my '69s2 there is a nylon roller that fits the channel.

sorry-
i see now you speak of what actually holds the window glass. that does appear to have been rubber, though it is kinda stiff and vaugely flexible now.

Yes.  I just broke the window and the replacements do not the track, so I have to figure out how to attach the old one.

I haven't replaced a Europa window before but I did work in a boat window factory as a glazer for a few years and it is possible that it is a pressure fit with rubber to the window regulator.  A local automotive window shop may have new rubber to help you out as lots of cars are attached that way.  I am pretty sure my old Saab was like that too and my Mini.

I thought that was the case.  I just don’t want to break it again putting that on the window!

Thanks, and Happy New year.

I fitted the channel onto the bottom of the glass with the rubber (which was not a tight fit) and used silicone to assemble it with. That seemed to work ok.

I used the inner tyre from a bike (thin rubber) soapy water and a rubber hammer.... good luke, btw I made that little nylon wheel detachable from the motor arm so it is easier to get the glass in/out (I can keep the motor and arm on position, take out the nylon wheel and lift the window out)
