Eclat upright(Vertical Link) same as Europa?
« on: Monday,September 24, 2018, 03:19:46 AM »
Hi
It looks like the Eclats upright or Vertical Link is the same as Europa. But I have not found something that confirmed it. Anyone knows that?

Regards

Lars

The part number is an Elan part number:

36C6006 and 36C6005 (early)

XO36C6006Z and XO36C6005Z  (late)

Same part, just updated part numbers

The (early) Eclat and Espirt used the following part numbers:

A036C6044Z and A036C6043Z

So, no, they look to be different.  Probably the same geometry though.  Just different sized spindles, etc.

The difference in the part numbers that John provided are indeed the spindle size.  The 43Z and 44Z uprights are used on Elans with knock-on rims and Plus 2's, so have the larger bearings and stub axles.

I can't recall if you can swap out the stub axles, but I can check on the weekend when I'm in the garage as I have a set of K/O Elan uprights and a number of the smaller stub axles.

Though I did use a set of Plus 2 vertical links on the Eleven I built with special hubs from Mike Brotherwood.  The hubs were meant to use the small stub axle, but they also worked with GT6 bearing kits to fit the larger axle.
