Minilite wheels
« on: Monday,October 02, 2017, 03:02:07 AM »
Hi guys,

I have an opportunity to buy a set of used Minilite wheels which are in pretty good condition, however the lug holes are 100mm apart. I can buy 25mm wheel spacers to fit the rims onto the S2 but that might push the wheel out too far.
Is it worth it?

Minilites are one of the most copied aftermarket wheel rims out there.  Buy ones that fit out of the box.

Do you know the back space for the Minilites? This could along with the width of the wheel spacers give a good idea if the wheels will fit. The stock S2 back space is 4", if I remember correctly. They had better be really, really cheap to go this route.

Be aware that it is very difficult to buy replacement wheel nits for genuine old Minilites.   Even Minilite don't do them anymore!

Unless you replace the wheel studs for metric ones.

That would have been useful to know 2 years ago. I did get some in the end but they had to be fitted with collars.

Standard Toyota alloy wheel nuts fit the Minilites, but not the wheel studs.

Having said all of the above if they are genuine period minilites and you can get them at a reasonable price then they are still worth getting.  I had mine powder coated and they look fantastic. I can probably find the email address of the guy that supplied my wheel nuts if you want it.
