Leak from speedometer cable on TC

Hi Everyone,

New Owner of a 1972 Twin Cam here.  Having fun with the car,  but dealing with a gear oil leak problem I'm hoping you can help with.   

There is gear oil slowly dripping out of where the speedo cable enters the transaxle, at the green seal in the attached picture.    Have any on you run into this problem before?   I tried looking for new speedo cables online and it looks like they are available,  though I didn't see the seal included with the cable.   Also,  is there somewhere that details the cable replacement procedure?   Any info would be a huge help!

It's not the cable that is leaking.

You need to replace the o-ring (31) and seal (33):

Thanks for the reply!  Do you know if those can be replaced without removing the rear cover of the transaxle?

  I tried looking through the rebuild guide for the transaxle and didn't see anything specific to replacing those with the transaxle assembled.

The plastic speedo gear holder/bushing is easily removed.  Jack up the rear of the car so the oil stays in, properly support the vehicle, unscrew the speedo-cable, remove the side retaining bolt (10 mm head) and pull it out.
