Correct steering rack/tiered assembly
« on: Thursday,May 04, 2017, 01:19:58 PM »
Rack is all rebuilt. Is this assembly correct?  Tie rod screwed onto extension most of the way but not tight. Extension screwed on rack shaft. Jam nut on inside of extension towards rack.   Set toe by moving rack shafts.  Just the one jam nut to the extension?  As always thanks for all the help!

That appears to be the correct method as shown in the workshop manual:

Figure 15 has a nice blow up of the tie rod end and rack extension.

Tie rod screwed on TIGHT to the extension.  There should be a washer between the tie rod and the extension:

Cinch up the lock nut against the extension after the toe is set.
