Steering rack rebuild question

Just got the rack finished. Had to soak for a week to loosen up the 40 year old grease.  There is a hole under the red marker. Is that a vent?  Should it be covered or left alone?  Seems like water could get in there.

Isn't it covered by the mount?

I believe John is correct. The hole in the rack on my TCS was covered up by the mount, too.

Ok. Thanks -didn't mount it yet. What was the reason for the hole?

I think it's a locating hole for a bush that's in the tube of the rack.

There should be a nylon bush/plug in the hole, see item 66 in the following link:
