Weber Head Dissection
« on: Sunday,January 08, 2017, 05:25:04 PM »
I've restored a couple of Lotus Elan's and during an engine rebuild became interested in the casting of an aluminum weber head for the twin cam. In particular wanted to know where the water ways and oil ways ran inside the head. Researched as much as I could and just wasn't able to find the details I was looking for. So I sourced a damaged head (from the UK) and had it shipped to me. Took it to my local machine shop and had my way with a C&C machine. The results are detailed in the following photos.

Great work and pictures! Alex was looking into this a while back, though we haven't heard from him lately. His thread may be useful to you: http://www.lotuseuropa.org/LotusForum/index.php?topic=1693.0

Thanks BDA. I had forgotten I had posted my dissected head photos on Alex's journey to create a Weber head from a stromberg head. He was deep into it and I have to give him credit for the initiative.
