Fitting the rear window...
« on: Thursday,July 28, 2016, 01:31:10 PM »
… Is by no means “fun” but it’s not that bad.  First, follow the directions in the manual with one minor exception.  Cut the gasket to length, lightly abrade the ends, glue (I used Q-bond) and then glue the gasket to the body (Q-bond again, glued joint up).  Do not use a blunted screwdriver, too likely to damage and/or crack the glass.  Instead, get a couple of plastic, windshield rubber tools.  Works like a charm.  Two pairs of hands are required, one pair to work the gasket in place and the other hold it from popping back out.  Finally, use the proper tool, and liberal doses of silicon lube, to fit the locking strip (butted ends at the bottom).

Took us about an hour and half once we followed the manual.
