Title: Europa Windshields from Prosouce in the USA
Post by: jbcollier on Monday,August 04, 2014, 12:29:30 PM
Prosource Glass sells Europa windshields from its website and on eBay.

DO NOT BUY.

It is undersized by quite a bit.  It absolutely does not fit the early style shells with the rubber retained windshield.  I would suspect it also wouldn’t fit the later glue in style shells but I haven’t checked for sure.

Bought one from Pro-source about 2 years ago and it fit perfectly (bonded) in my TCS...the glass was made by Pilkington. ld

How does one know which style (bond in or gasket) to choose?  Do we have the option, or was there a break-off for the gasket style then the bonded in style?

Prosource is also a supplier of Elan glass.   Haven't heard any bad news from the Elan crowd but, me thinks they are supplying glass from the original manufacture..........I think.
As for Pilkington.  I had the same issue with my '84 Carrera.  The windshield was to small and gasket wouldn't cover the corners on the body on either side.  Should have stuck OM on that one.

Thread Updates

Windshield:

Received  the new windshield from Pilkington Classic in the US:

http://www.pilkington.com/en/us/automotive/pilkington-classics

Fits perfectly.  As it is cheaper than Prosource, both for the windshield and the shipping, and actually the right windshield, I can’t see why anyone would buy from anywhere else.  So only go to Prosource if you have lots of money that needs to be laundered and if your Europa has a glued in windshield.  The Prosource chinese-knock-off windshield is thinner and smaller than stock and will not fit in a Europa that uses a rubber seal mounted windshield.

Rubber Seal:

Received the correct seal from Phoenix Trim in the UK:

http://www.phoenixtrim.co.uk/Portals/Phoenix/PDF%20Files/Indian%20Rubber/IRS%20Window%20Seal%202012.pdf

It is indeed somewhat wider than the seal provided by R D Enterprises.  Not by that much but it might be significant.

YMMV,

John

PS: If you require a glue-in windshield, and you live in Alberta, I have a windshield you can have for cheap, cheap, cheap.

I would buy it from you, but I'm pretty sure with the shipping to Michigan & insurance, it would end up being more money than the correct one from Pilkington. Thanks for the update & pics, I'll definitely use your advise. Good lookin'out for everyone!
