Hi,
Been looking at the timing on my S2 (or at least, trying to). Are these the timing marks on the bell housing? And is that the corresponding mark on the flywheel (if that's what it is)? Also, how on earth are you supposed to see into that dark aperture?!!! I've had to use a camera with flash to see at all.

Martin Yes it’s the correct location and marking.
Do you have a timing gun?
To help see the timing when engine is running try painting the groove in the flywheel with some white or yellow paint. Hook up timing light to number 1 cylinder plug lead and power the gun from the battery. Block off vacuum.
Aim gun at mark when engine is running. You should see the flashing light hit the mark mat approximately the 5degree mark. If not you need to mov, rotate the distributor until it’s at the recommend point .
