Title: 807 Head sensor question
Post by: BERNIEHUMBER on Friday,March 07, 2025, 06:13:55 AM
HI:
I have a question of the group on this head.
What is this sensors aim in life?
What thread pattern does it have?
Thanks

What engine is it from?
Can't answer specifically, but my R17TS (844 fuel injection engine) has the same layout.
Presumably one or other provide temp sensor input for the ECU.

If the intention is to use the head with carburettors, these can be blanked off with a plug. I'd say take 'em out and measure the threads.

HI:
Thanks for the get back.
Yes its from a FI 807 and I was planning to plug it up.
The head is at my other workshop so I wanted to know what to bring to do that blank off.

One sensor is for the temperature gauge and the other for the fuel injection.

HI John:
Yes thanks for that info.
I was looking for the thread pattern as I can buy it(a plug) locally.
This head (or one identical) is 100 miles away and about all I can buy locally is gas and oil.

One sensor is for the temperature gauge and the other for the fuel injection.

Yeah, but that still makes three holes going into the water jacket when we include the one near the water pump.

IIRC, D-Jetronic has a coolant temperature sensor and a cold start injector switch.  Add in the temperature gauge sensor and you have your three holes.

Based on my 807 head. it measures as 18mm by 1.5 mm thread pitch.
Measures as a straight thread, not a tapered pipe thread.
Sensor has Jaeger France stamped on it and includes the thread size.
Very handy!

HI Grant:
Thanks for that information.
I will be going up to that head assembly and wanted to know what size plug to get.
I have too many vehicles here (at home)so this head is at a heated barn north of London Ontario.
The GTA has sources for larger metric fittings where the area that the head is at, gas,oil and tractor parts are the order of the day.
