Scored a set of Curto-rebuilt carbs from one of our fellow enthusiasts...and they look nice. Fresh diaphragms, clean needles, new jets, fresh gasket/floats/temp compensators/inter-carb 'w' fitting and throttle arm and looks like throttle shaft seals.
And, a couple boxes of rebuild kits and original, non-damaged diaphragms (a lot more flexible than the replacements they're selling these days) The dashpots were a little sticky from dust accumulation...so, clean them off, a thin application of sewing machine oil on the center tube, and keep flipping the valve up and down as you tighten the cover screws, and now they're clicking like they should when you release them!
Thinking these will save me the issue or overhauling mine again. But, they're so pretty...put them in, they'll get dirty...maybe mount them on a nice piece of cherry and hang on the wall. Lotus wall art. LOL.

Very nice. I had Joe rebuild mine and they came back looking like new. I can’t comment on the internal parts as I didn’t feel competent to disassemble them. Once installed I only had to synchronize and adjust the idle.

They're packed (they came to my PA house...going home tomorrow...if it warms up...may swap them over.
Only thing I noticed was that they are mounted to the adapter plate without thackery washers. Will have to swap over the ones I have on the car now so the carbs aren't hard-mounted to the adapter plates. It's how they came from Curto, I'm assuming...

Very nice! Were they dry-ice blasted or something to get that nice finish?
I'm finding I need a carb rebuild every couple of years. (Ethanol fuel? Infrequent high-rev use?) Having a second freshly rebuilt set on standby I could swap-out every spring would be a great nice-to-have!

I'm thinking that they are tumble-polished and then moving parts cleaned up with crocus cloth. The externam mechanism moving parts are replated, new springs, etc, jets replaced, new needles, temp compensators, and I do believe that he has a flow bench to do the initial setup.
I did (since they were sitting on the shelf of the PO) have to gently hit the dashpot exteriors with crocus and sewing machine oil to get the dust off so they slid smoothly and keep lifting the piston as I tightened up the cover (which I never had to do on my existing set...) so they were centered properly. They're good now. Can't wait for a warmer day (anything above 50 degrees in the garage...right now, it's 35 in there...) to swap them over and set up and see. If they've been done correctly...will be nice to not have to fill the dashpot before every run. Then I can take time with the old set and rebuild properly. May send the bodies down to Joe (and the piston/needles) and have him set new jets and do the rest myself.

Bryan, now I know what you meant by to beautiful. I was going through some boxes delivered by the owner of S1 XKE, and WOW these popped out. It was love at first sight. I wish that newer cars had some of the old classy look. I’ll be polishing up the intake manifold to match. He also donated a buffer for the cause, coming soon.

I wish that newer cars had some of the old classy look. I’ll be polishing up the intake manifold to match. He also donated a buffer for the cause, coming soon.

Oh boy...those are SWEEEEEEEET.
Thinking I may just wait until I pull the lump (I know...been saying that for close to 3 years now...!!!!) and reseal her, paint the block and valve cover, to clean her up before putting the OH set on. If there is anyone in the SE MA area that wants to help...I'm all ears.

My gifted buffer arrived today, what a beast. This should be able to do anything I attempt to do.
I’m all ready shopping for attachments.😂 and striped the base for paint prep.

Nice machine D-man. Is that 3-phase? Do you have 3-phase power in your shop, or are you using a converter?
