Title: Scale Coil Overs
Post by: Benjy on Tuesday,December 31, 2024, 07:40:20 AM
Greetings all

Has anyone any experience with these?

https://scalesuspension.com/product/lotus-europa-70-75-innovative/

I tried writing a couple of times but they never replied which is rarely a good sign.

They look pretty serious but are certainly not cheap at about $1300 a set.

A very happy new year (almost)

Benjy

Aside from the price, the range of years for the S2 model doesn’t give me confidence in their attention to detail.

Happy New Year to you too, Benjy!!

I have no experience or even knowledge of those shocks. The front shocks have an unusual design. After taking a look at my TC, I'm not sure they'd even fit and as you say, they ain't cheap! They do look nice though!

I suspect that you'd have better luck contacting one of their dealers rather than Scale, itself.

If you are putting them on a street car, I wouldn't bother. I like the Protech shocks I got from SJSportsCars (https://www.sjsportscars.com/). Spax are also popular. Both are a lot cheaper.

If you need something fancy, our own Serge is using shocks from here (https://raceshocks.uk/). Here is his video discussing his shocks for his S1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUBq9mz61_E). The RaceShocks website does not list shocks for either the S1/S2 or TC/TCS so you might need to call or write them.

I was just wondering really... and they do look good. I really like the way they can be adjusted for height without adjusting spring rates.

But I want a compliant ride so wonder if there's enough damping adjustment in them.

My S2 has a set of old blue Spax which don't leak and since I filled them with new oil seem absolutely fine.

Maybe someone on the forum knows about these Scale coilovers. It seems like a lot of work to make a set specifically for the Europa if they do not manage to sell any!

Benjy,
One thing you might want to check is that the listing is for "LOTUS EUROPA S2 70-75".
Remember that Type 46 and 54's have the narrow springs and these items may only fit Type 65's . . and Lotus ceased production of the S2 long before 1975 as Kendo points out.

Lastly, while the tardy communications is certainly a concern, I'd be put off by the lack of spring rate options while they're happily offering 15 different spring colours!
This, to me, speaks to the 'bling' aspect as taking precedence.
