My son helped me remove my pedal assembly to add a lower hole for the brake pedal (due to elimination of boosters) and I never saw how the clutch pedal holds itself in the return position. The pieces seem to be lost now. Does someone have a picture of the clutch cable attachment point area? I assume that there was a spring or something there holds the pedal from flopping down. The manual does not show a good diagram for the TC Special.

The spring you expected to find is in the bell housing attached to the throw out bearing carrier. This keeps the throw out bearing off the clutch when the pedal isn't pressed (second picture). There is no spring directly associated with the pedals for anything. The first picture is a snippet of page JE 1 of the TC/TCS parts manual. The ear on the right side of the pedal assy. is where the clutch cable s attached. That picture doesn't show it but there is also a piece of steel that looks like a nail welded to the pedal tube that points somewhat rearward (third picture - from the TC/TCS workshop manual on clutch adjustment) shows it a bit better. This keeps the pedal from flopping down.

Cazman,
I fabricated this bracket to stop the rearward fall the floor pedal. It must have rotted off completely on my original assembly.

Thanks all.
I do have the "nail" welded to the pedal still, but that still lets the pedal flop rearward too much for me. I know that there was something there. It may have been a mod made by someone else. I think I need to do some customization then.

I made an adjustable stop …pic in my build thread

If you raised the pedal assy with a spacer in order for your new hole to line up with the M/C pushrod, you need to put an equally thick pad under where the clutch return stop "nail" comes to rest (or fabricate an adjustable stop as suggested.)

Umm, Oh yea I did raise the pedals didn't I? And I did forget to increase that pad thickness!!!!!
