Cooling Experts
I having difficulties with my S2 Temp sender on the Renault engine. The electrics work.
I ground the wire to the sender and the Gage slowly goes to full hot. Thus the gage works the new voltage regulator works.
I boiled the sender and watched the resistance change.
Put it back together filled the water and attempted to purge the trapped air with the T valve near the water pump and at the radiator. I see water moving thru the Chinese Gano filter
Pulled the sender and water came out
Replaced the sender with a new one from France, put it back together, ran it to hot opened the T valve still no dice.
Any suggestions?
Any more suggestion on exactly how to remove and air pocket at the sender?

Not wishing to suggest a silly question - but have you a good earth between the sender and block? Have you insulated the threads with ptfe tape or similar? (Its been done before......) :confused:

I think the ground is good. The original had a fiber washer. Replaced it with a copper washer. Tried a wire from hex to the engine. The the new french sender came with an aluminum washer which is on now. Ill try separate ground wire from the hex to ground on the new sender.

When you say you think earth(ground) is good, do you have a multi meter? Have you tested?
A cheapy if you need in the US.

I forgot the audible continuity on my Tacklife DM10 made in China. Checked it. "we have tone"

I would check ohms, not just continuity between the sensor output and chassis ground at a place other than where it's mounted.

I mean check ohms with a temperature increase, just without the gauge. One terminal at the sender, the other at ground, try at the sender and then frame.

I'm a little confused but Have you installed the thermostats correctly. The water to the sender comes from inside the block near the liners. Did you raise the front of car?

Not on the car though. Terminal to body of sensor in a pot vs terminal to ground on chassis.

Clifton you may be "sending" me in the right direction the new french sender on the car from the terminal to the sender hex show 0 ohms cold. The old sender off the car shows 24.5k ohms. I think I got a faulty FAE sender.
