Title: Bought a PU with less seat space than a Europa!
Post by: Richard48Y on Friday,May 31, 2024, 04:34:03 PM
61 MM PU "Parts chaser".
Got it for a very good price, mostly restored but not a runner.
Somewhat silly of me as I could have had the Europa nearly finished for the cost.
But actual out of pocket is low since I sold the project MM PU I already had for almost as much.
Besides, every time I say "I only need $XXX to finish the Europa" cost escalate again.
This is to be my DD once I resolve a couple of issues.
Rebuilt engine has only 60psi compression, clearly some error.

The ridiculous thing is that it is as valuable as an S1/S2 Europa.

May have found out why it would not run?

I wonder if this might account for the low compression?  :holdurbreath:
I put compressed air to two cylinders and really did not hear leakage.
Somewhere along the rebuild clear tape was put over the head ports.
It was not removed before the intake and exhaust were put on.
I will be doing another compression check once I put a few things back on the engine.

Got it to run, found more serious problems so now pulling the head to look into the cylinders.
Pumping oil on #3 but compression is good across the board.
Thinking cracked or poorly installed oil ring?
Hope the cylinders are OK, want to just hone and re-ring it.
