Title: High Tension Archeology
Post by: FourLoti on Tuesday,June 20, 2023, 07:33:48 PM
With at least 2,000 things to work on to get my car back to being a useful vehicle, of course the most important thing to do today was to was to get side tracked spiffing up the spark plug wires and cap! :-\

But, once clean, I couldn't help but notice the unusual brand on the wires. No doubt these were installed at Hethel almost exactly 50 years ago. I'm sure if I ever decide to get back into concours competition (highly doubtful) these will get me extra points :)

For goodness sakes, fit new ones.  These are common fail points and 50+ years of use and abuse won't have helped either.

Yes, I plan to, of course. Just thought it was cool to see sights from the past. And BRG as well. Wonder if Lotus specified that?

When I purchased my TCS in 2010 it had fitted what I believe to be the original leads. I could never be certain they were original, but I know for sure they were no newer than 1979. Seeing yours now, mine might be original. They are a similar colour. When I get home, I'll check to see if they have the same markings.

I have never attended a concours event….not sure if they need to see the car running….if not swap the leads out for the event and your new leads to drive home!

The best of both worlds and those extra points
