Title: 1973 TCS on BaT
Post by: BDA on Saturday,August 06, 2022, 11:25:27 AM
There is a pretty nice '73 4-speed TCS on BaT. It's almost completely original (other than new shocks, adjustable lower links, and aluminum alternator pulley). For example, it still has the heater tubes, fuel catch tank, and Girling brake boosters. Unfortunately, there are only 53 pictures and no videos of anything (yet).

I didn’t realize it was your car. Sorry your selling your baby.

Some detail pictures of the suspension and if you get it on a lift, some pictures of the frame would be nice.

Looking forward to the driving video. A lot of people are interested in cold start videos. One of those would be nice.

Good luck with the sale. I hope you’re pleased with the result!

Detailed photos of underneath featuring the chassis, suspension, transaxle, engine, etc are always helpful.  The more information you provide early in the auction, the better.  Otherwise it may look like there are hidden issues.

Along with more detailed photos of the underneath and a driving video, you should have a cold start video (first show yourself touching the exhaust manifold to show it is cold), hot start video, and a compression test.

The newly voted videos will help a lot.

I was a bit disappointed in the final price - $24,000. It seemed like a nicer car than that. What was a bit more disappointing was the apparent lack of interest at the end. There were few comments around when the bidding really got started. Maybe because it ended on a Saturday...

OTOH, $24,000 isn't a terrible price either so I hope Mikey likes it! is satisfied with the outcome.

The car is a driver, not a pristine restoration, and it has a four speed.  Now, it's a very nice driver and the four speed is a good tranny but the market prefers five speeds and excellent condition.  All in all, I think it is a fair price all round.

I suppose you're right, JB. I might have been comparing this car to recently restored cars.

I noticed there is a bulb weatherstrip running over the top to the jam on the door. Not a factory piece as I cannot find in the manual. Is this a possible fix for wind noise and has anyone done this too?

Kram350kram, can you provide the photo number or even better, a screen scrape with a pointer to the weatherstrip you're talking about? I'm not seeing anything that is not OEM or equivalent replacement. Maybe I'm missing something.

Having driven both a 4 speed and a 5 speed, to me, 5th is just an overdrive, like it says O/D on the gearknob, so just for motorway cruising.

For driving down all other roads, 4 speed is perfectly acceptable.

Car  sold for 24K.    Fair price.  The only non factory seals were the ones in the engine compartment to seal the lid.

Congratulations on your sale, Mikey!  :beerchug: I hope you tell the new owner about our little forum here.

I think the bulb gasket around the doors are non standard.
