Title: transmission nut damaged and repaired
Post by: califkid_66 on Friday,July 01, 2022, 07:41:43 AM
took out the nut and noticed previous owner had damaged the nut so
not using the right tools no wonder it was leaking the seal wasn’t sitting in its place
simple fix now it’s nice and straight seal sits nicely

i only use the old seal to see if it sat properly i remove the nuts to get the dimensions there’s two different size i ordered seals pins and shims
the difference is only the thicknesses
they asked me if i wanted the o ring i said ok was around a dollar each but i have not seen any in the transmission im gonna have to look through my books i thought there was only the oil seal

Hate to sound like a broken record but I really, really recommend you take off the bell housing and make sure your ring and pinion freeplay and diff bearing preload are all correct.  It is very common to screw it up when changing seals, very, very common.

actually the whole rear suspension is off  so i was thinking about taking it of i have to change the bushing in the gearshift mecanisme  i only have to remove the pulleys so it wouldn’t be a bad idea
