after driving my europa a few weeks ago i noticed some loose in the wheels so tonight i decided to see what was the problem i could see some movement on transmission side of halfshaft so i removed the pins and noticed that the pins were broken in half so the pin was holding only one side that is why i had some movement
so i will be ordering pins from rd
the pins were very easy to remove i used punches same diameter as roll pins started with the center one then the outside one just tapped gently with a hammer

i have no idea i don’t think it’s been ever taken apart before so it must have been the original shims ,im gonna need the new pins to shim it properly im going to get a couple of shims with the pins

Do they need two pins in one hole. I notice sjsportscsrs only seem to sell just the one pin.

I think some shafts used 2 roll pins [ One small inside the larger one ] and some used a single scroll pin. Stuart....

S1/S2 and TCs with the 336 transaxle used 2 shims: a 7mm outer with a 4mm as the filler. TC(s), with the larger output shafts, use a spirol pin (looks like a miniature jelly roll from the end) of 5mm nominal diameter.
When you shim, you are looking for the clearance hole in the yoke to be just an RCH to the outside. Just a pinch. If it's too loose (ie the hole is a hair to towards the transaxle), the pin will break under the load, but if you are just a hair proud, you will compress the pin properly and have no lateral movement. It's a hair and some air...you want the yoke tight against the shims.

You can work out the shim required using a 5mm drill bit instead of the roll pin. It slips in and out perfectly.

My tcs with 365 gearbox had the inner and ouer slotted pins but I do not know if that is how it should be. I certainly dont want the new single pin to snap but also dont want to put 2 pins in if its incorrect.

My 365 had the single Spirol pins. Checking the r.d. enterprises website, they list the double roll pins for the 336 and the single "coiled" Spirol pins for the 352 and 365. Check out their website which pretty clearly shows the difference.

while im at it i want to change my universal joint i saw a post about witch one was a better choice but can’t find it if i remember right it was posted by JB
i figure might as well put everything new while it’s apart

For TC & TCS: Hardy Spicer K5 GB161 (from TR3, 4, 4A, 250, TR6)
I think for S2, you want K5-GB150 This one doesn't seem to have a grease fitting. There may be a good alternative with a fitting

thanks that’s what i was looking for ,
as if i didn’t have enough to do i decided to change my disks and brake pads in the front plus front bearings
i found a moss motor distributor near me he said he had everything in stock but didn’t want to
give me the wrong parts he didn’t have any references for europa parts
i told him spitfire he said some years are different
i have a 1970 s2 federal with renault engine i would need to know from what year and model it came from

Discs are the same for all the years.
The Mk3 and up pads fit mine.

PS: Just a heads up. I fit green stuff pads and was happy. Then I went down a very steep and very twisty pass and the pads overheated and faded. While it was the pads that faded, is was more probably due to a
lack of area rather than the material itself. I then tried race pads and found them pretty noisy.
I’m experimenting right now and will report back when complete and tested.
