Title: The bolt size for the Camshaft flange
Post by: BERNIEHUMBER on Wednesday,September 15, 2021, 02:21:54 PM
HI:
I have a 16TS-807 in bits.
The Europa has a 1470 in it now and over time I will jigsaw the 807 together.
It came with a new camshaft (the correct lay out for the Europa) but I can't find the flange bolts.
What size/thread are they?
Luckily I have rebuilt the 1470 (many years ago)so some of the Renault's oddities still come back(wet sleeves).
Thanks

are you talking about the two bolts that hold the camshaft if so
it’s m7 x1 i just put helicois in mine cause the threads were stripped

HI:
Thanks for the get back.
What length are you going to use?

Now you have me thinking that I had better dig out the block and check the threads!
When I rebuilt the 1470 I remember that one of the those bolts had come loose and if I hadn't taken the engine out, it would have fallen out and caused major destruction.
I put Loctite on both when it went back together.

Careful with the loctite.  You may just wind out the heli-coil the next time.  Just use a drop of the blue and do make sure you use the proper lock washer.

Exactly what happened when I did the 1470.

i didn’t put any loctite on the helicoil nor on the bolts im not sure about the length i only know it’s      m7 x1
i did measure the depth of the hole  about 16.5 mm deep

I didn’t put any loctite on mine either and I sleep just fine.  In the middle of a 2K journey right now.  Life is good.

Dunno why the photo is so big.  Here's a link for easier viewing:

Love the headlights, JB! Are they LEDs? Which ones did you get? How did you address cooling?

I didn't notice that, Exlimey!! That is very impressive - and I checked that the speedo was displaying MPH and not KPH!

(insert laugh track)  Yes the speed would be impressive, and of great interest to the local constabulary.  It would easily go that fast but the tach would be reading much higher.  However, I fit an MPH speedometer but calibrated in KPH.  Otherwise I would have got very little sweep on the dial with the KPH version.

The lights are illegal and very effective.  I run a pair of Hella 90mm HID commercial units behind the grill (legal but way too low).  These are both low and high and are quite bright, far brighter than any halogen units.  In the headlight pods I run Hella HID rally lights which come on with the highs, I think they are 180mm in diameter.  They really throw a beam.  If there was something on the road, not only could I stop in time, you could comfortably put a football field in remaining space.
