One of my Windows stopped working so I have pulled the motor and disassembled it. I have removed the armature which seems fine. The problem is the two male electrical connectors are shorting out. Both connectors show continuity to the brush connected to the fibre mounting board, but neither connector shows continuity to the brush attached to the case.
This seems wrong to me. I would assume each connector should show continuity to its own brush.
I cant seem to pry off the end plate with the connectors,is this possible.

There shouldn't be any continuity between terminals to my knowledge. I thought there was 2 windings and each earthed through the body.

Most window motors are simple motors where you reverse the current flow to change window direction. Not the Europa window motors. They have separate up and down windings. Both flow to ground so both are "shorted" together when tested with an ohm meter.

Electrics are not my strong point but I agree there should be no continuity between the two connectors. It looks like mine has windings only on one side which then goes to the brush, then the 2nd brush goes to earth (the main body).

Are the motors the AC Delco type with a large and Heavy rectangular body? If not you may have non standard or earlier type motors.

If you give up trying to fix yours, they are probably still available from places like NAPA (napaonline.com). Search for Delco Oldsmobile from mid ‘70s. I wonder if Vauxhall used them too…

Mine is the Delco ,Rochester NY usa type. If a fix is not possible I would prefere to source it closer to home in the UK.
