Title: Radiator/headlamp clearance
Post by: Broadside on Wednesday,July 14, 2021, 02:43:38 PM
Has anyone experienced the headlamp bowl fouling the radiator? (s2 rhd)
I guess i may be able to get the radiator to move a fraction but I think it will be marginal.........

I had to take the headlamp bowl out of my TCS to get the radiator out (still had fan fitted). I seem to recall that radiator side bowl should have a "dent" in it to clear the radiator? Mine doesn't have (note to self : check) but I'm getting more convinced its has a nose surgery at some point....

Thanks for that, a dent has already crossed my mind :-) I've also realised I don't have the rubber seals, so that will help a bit

Greetings Beasty, My right headlamp bucket had a inward dint to clear the rad when I acquired the car. PO must have put it in to re and re the Rad. I needed this extra clearance to fit the 3 core aluminum rad I installed. I found it easier to take that bucket out to install the new rad.

Sandy,

The rubber will add a small amount of clearance but the headlamp bowl should have a depression to accommodate the radiator.
I have fitted new plastic bowls and simply cut a piece out to give the clearance required.
