Post by: califkid_66 on Monday,July 12, 2021, 09:45:00 AM
drove the lotus a lot this week needed to clear my head so just went for a ride to mont tremblant
but on the way back being on wavy roads i pushed it a bit ! and it was hesitating so i thought ok not enough fuel bad fuel pump floats not adjusted right maybe fuel filter
so went with the simplest fuel filter it was new only 400 miles on it i emptied it on a towel you can see what came out

It's corrosion from the tank(s).

actually it’s not corrosion there is no rust in the tanks i took a picture when they were empty and they looked galvanized it looked like sand but when dried out it was just dirt maybe from jerrycans
just glad i had an in-line filter

I had that happen on mine in under 50 miles. I "thought" I had my tank pretty clean prior. Glad it was a cheap, easy find and fix.

It can be corroded just in a few spots, seams, inside a pipe, etc.  You can't alway tell just by looking.

Fit a filter like this:

You can see what's going on and a far larger capacity.

That looks like a nice piece. The page at the link seems to suggest it does double duty as a pressure regulator.
