Title: Melting interior light
Post by: Exlimey on Monday,May 24, 2021, 07:08:57 AM
This may have been covered before but, working on the car with the door open for a while, I found that the interior light completly melted its switch . I have replaced the bulb with Sylvania 6418 LED. Now it only works when door opens but that’s fine with me. Original festoon was 5w.

I don’t believe I’ve heard of that before! The melting obviously screwed up the switch. Another reason to use LEDs. A new lamp should be pretty easy to find if you decide you want it.

Could be a faulty manual switch on the light itself.

It happened to me.

The interior lights are plastic and not meant for continuous use.  I've seen lots of melted ones on MGBs.
