Title: Allen Millyard
Post by: surfguitar58 on Sunday,January 03, 2021, 11:52:21 AM
This has nothing to do with Europas, but everything to do with innovative backyard petrolhead engineering. Check out some of the YouTube Frankenbike videos from this brilliant, understated Brit. https://youtu.be/sjxiHLZdSGw

I don't know a lot about motorcycles but this was pretty interesting. (He sure got a lot of use from his hacksaw!). The next time I'm at the Barber museum, I'll be sure to take a look!

It reminded me of two outrageous builds. If you don't know about the Britten motorcycle and it's development, you'll want to view this documentary (https://www.nzonscreen.com/title/britten-backyard-visionary-1993).

Then there is a guy who shoehorned a V12 into a Ferrari 308GTS (https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/frankenferrari-v12-ferrari-308/148959/page1/). It's a very detailed explanation of how he did it. It took a LOT of work that was very intersting!

Ferrari build is awesome! Just think what he could do with a Twin Cam head!

To me Allen Millyard is right up there with the Britten level of innovative designers and tinkerers. He is surely one of the undisputed masters of the English shed method. I have been following him for a while and his projects never cease to amaze me! He has several bikes in the Barber museum. The V12 kawasaki is mind blowing.

The last I had heard about the Fraken Ferrari, it was just on the road running on eleven cylinders so I was looking for an update and apparently he had some engine drama. So I looked at the grassroots motorsports thread and it turns out that he has continued to update it. Working from the most recent posts going back, in April of this past year, he posted some videos from Allen Millyard! I realize the thread is 62 pages long but if you have a few hours, it would probably be worth your while.

There are quite a few posts of the modifications he's making to his house/garage/shop/dyno room? It reminded me of some of the posts Chuck did when he was building his house.
