Title: Stromberg intake port size at carb mount
Post by: TurboFource on Saturday,August 08, 2020, 04:42:43 AM
Does anyone have a stromberg head without the carbs on it so the can measure the size of the siamesed intake port where the carb mount? Is it 1.75" like the carb size?

It should be the same or slightly larger than the the carb for good airflow.  You should also match the gasket inside diameters and the balance tube manifold.  The air should never "see" a sharp edge of decreasing diameter..

It looks like 1-3/4" to me.

Any uneven transition results in turbulence and reduced flow.  The intake port should not be larger, or smaller, that carb outlet.  From the carb outlet, the port should slowly narrow and then open again at the valve (to compensate for the valve guide, stem and head.
