Title: First Time Out...Tuesday morning Hethel 1967
Post by: Lou Drozdowski on Thursday,July 04, 2013, 09:05:53 AM
For me, the Lotus 49 is not only Iconic, and simply best looking & revolutionary single seater ever built : but, there is something magical to this chassis design that continues to inspire. Molded into the brand heritage forever, the 49 started it's journey thru history one cloudy morning at the test track in Hethel with the new and legendary Cosworth DFV.

Maurice Phillip (designer), Colin Chapman,  Graham Hill (bending), Hazel, Clive, & Roger Putnam.

I wonder if they knew what an impact this morning would bring... just 5 days later, Jim Clark drove to Victory at Zanvoort. ld

Great post, great picture. Keep 'em coming !

One thing that immediately strikes me is how delicate all looks in comparison with the massive tyres. I know modern F1 cars are probably just as lightweight, but they just look a bit tougher when everything is hidden under the aerodynamic panelling.

Another great photo. I love this shot, and I concur with your thoughts on the Lotus 49.
