Howdy fellow Europa owners! Name is Jason and im from Texas. I've owned my 1971 Lotus S2 Fed Type 65 for about a full year. I purchased it last year in January from a guy named Michael from Austin,Tx. Been doing a lot of the usual tear down. Needs a windshield so if anyone knows someone or who is someone to sell me one. That would be great. I do welding and fabrication so im in the works of making my very own intake and exhaust manifolds. Full stainless with the exhaust as well. I am curious if anyone can confirm to me that the "LUK" clutch kit part number [14-006] will be the correct specs to fit up with my 4 speed transaxle input shaft splines and Renault NON twin cam flywheel. I would really appreciate it. Its keeping my rebuild process to a halt at the moment. Car has been a barn find from the previous owner and sat since the late 80s when last registered so it needs a new life and i wanna start driving it already. :welder:

:Welcome: Jason, if you have seen some of the other threads, they will guide you to the parts you need. Here on the forum we love pictures, lots of pictures. Read the post on how to resize and post. There is at least one other Europa owner in your state. Can't wait to see the car and hear about your rebuilding process.

I assume you have had a look in the Part's manual here->http://www.lotuseuropa.org/workshop_manual.htm (http://www.lotuseuropa.org/workshop_manual.htm) as a starting point to your cross reference chack.
I believe one of the other sites has a Part's cross reference. I'm sure one of the more senior members (Posts, not necessarily age....) will be along to point you in the right direction forthwith soon.

I really appreciate the warm welcome! Im currently using this forum on my smart phone and i downloaded an app to compress my photos. I tried adding pictures but they kept coming out upside down! :WTF: But check it out. Download it and flip it when you have the chance to have a better visual on it

Little more information on the car. The actual color code was suppose to be yellow but someone resprayed it black. Fender flares must've been added at some point because I've seen many pictures of S2 Federal models and i dont think it was added from factory. Tho i have no problem with the bigger hips cuz i love how it will look with my freshly powder coated steelies i have for it. The car last titled owner came from Missouri. Currently finished the works of installing a hydraulic clutch assembly. Was kinda tricky but i made it work.

JPS tribute is my direction for color with the whole car almost. I utilized the original wheel caps and had them mount onto the hubs with bolts instead of your typical press fit. Wasnt confident with that direction so i welded my own tabs onto them just so i can reinsure that they will stay on there. They also act as a security lug guard. Gotta go from behind the wheel to extract the bolts off.

For some reason, some pictures come out upside down or sideways. Your first one seems to have been "infected" (lame virus joke!) by this.
Your flares are better than many I've seen and your wheels are an interesting idea. It looks nice. I can see you know your way around a tig welder! That will obviously serve you well in this project!
Turbocharging your motor is an interesting idea too!
The windshield is available from the manufacturer, Pilkington (https://www.pilkington.com/en/us/automotive/pilkington-classics). They were the OE supplier and they will fit. I've heard of several people who have gotten Chinese knock-offs with unsatisfactory results. Check to see if they have a depot in your area and if so, you can save the shipping costs.

The Luk clutch kit will fit but it "may" not be strong enough. Better would be to buy the clutch from a Lotus supplier. Two well known in the US are: Dave Bean and RD Enterprises.

Great to meet a fellow Europa owner from TX. What city are you in? I have a buddy in Austin with a +2 Elan. I am in Denton/Dallas area. I have a turbocharged S2 with a Renault Fuego engine in it.

Are you regarding strength as in longevity or just all around quality and to have potential of failure? If this is also regarding for turbo power. Im not actually gonna be turboing it anytime soon. I just need something to work with so i can get the car moving soon.

Im from San Antonio. Super happy to know another Lotus Europa owner nearby. I honestly think im the only owner in town tho. The locals here don't know anyone else around with a Europa.

The stock Renault 200mm clutch was not designed for the extra 20hp of the Europa version of the engine. The Europa came with a HD pressure plate. In the old days, fitting a stock 200mm Renault clutch to a Europa led to problems with slipping. I don't know whether the Luk kit comes with a standard or a HD cover. It "might" work, it might not. Lotus specialists sell the correct HD version. Renault went to a 215mm clutch for their higher output engines. The 215mm flywheel is not an easy fit into a 336 bell housing. I hear it can be done with some grinding and cursing. The 215mm flywheels are also getting harder to find. The 200mm HD-version clutch works well.

It looks like you’re off and running! Can’t wait to see that Turbo installed.
Any plans for A/C system. I’m glad to see another S2 /wedge/ black/ with flares. Lol
