I just purchased (sight unseen) a Europa S2 with the Renault engine. It has a Weber 45DCOE on it, any thoughts as to if this is a decent set up? Owner says it runs great and he has had it for 20years. He also says it has a tube header. I'll post some pics when I get the car in about 2 weeks.

must be the hermes upgrade on the 831 wedge

:Welcome: aspares!
I'm sorry I can't directly address your question as I have a different engine. Someone else can probably help you but you might want to give more information about your motor. There is more than one Renault motor used in S2s and the state of tune (cam, head work, etc.) would be useful for people to know.
It sounds like you're contemplating buying that car. One thing I can advise you do is drive the car and see for yourself how well it runs.

From your picture it looks like the Hermes upgrade, is that a good upgrade?

If what you bought is like the picture it means you have the Renault wedge wich came with a one piece intake exhaust manifold and had a solex disda 32 downdraft carburator
And the owner upgrade to sidedraft and aluminium intake manifold and tubular exhaust this is a very nice upgrade more power better flow

Aspares, first of all
:Welcome:
The Weber and Hermes intake is a sought after upgrade. Do a search here to n Hermes and you will see members are trying to recreate it. The 45 Doce some say it may be too big, I personally would love your setup.
Can’t wait to see your photos. Enjoy your purchase and drive it. 😀

please do post some pics once you've collected the S2!

Sounds like a great Europa. Welcome to the family. We always love seeing photos!

Firstly :Welcome:
My dad fitted the Hermes kit to his S2 Europa (bought new) and has always rated it very highly.
Enjoy your Europa and don't forget to post some pics up asap!

I bought a Hermes inlet manifold and Weber last year, hopefully that will drag more power from the little Renault engine...

HI:Back in the day I put that kit on my S2 and it made a big difference in performance (not a Hemi change but still fine).
The one thing I did was put and insulator plate between the bottom of the carb and the top of the header tubes.
I also wrapped the tubes in insulating material as it gets close to the starter.
The scariest thing that happened was the carb's float stuck(?) and was dripping raw gas down on the insulated pipes.
Luckily I smelt gas and did a quick check.

I'm really glad you caught it quickly, Bernir! Fire is unfortunately a not uncommon end to too many Europas.

That is an interesting set up. ELSE were the other supplies of weber side draft carbs. Is the intake manifold stamped with a supplier's name. I notice your coolant pipes have been re routed round the carb, mine were like that but it caused loads of problems with air locks. I found it easier to drop them down under the carb
