I'm getting frustrated here. All of the numbers I get for this belt and comparable references don't produce the proper belt at the local auto store. This is for a 1970 type 65 Federal. I'm also assuming all of those shims that are on the camshaft pulley are meant to be used for tensioning the belt?

Yup, just like a VW Beetle.

Must be 40's technology but it's a very simple way to solve a problem. Any idea of a belt number? Folks here on the Wet Coast are lost!

Suggests a 15295 would work.
You can wrap thin rope around the pulleys to get a rough length and go from there. Buy your belts from a sympathetic source and swap them until you get the right one.

We went with the list you posted and all the belts are that come up are too long. At least the young fellow I'm dealing with knows what a Lotus is, I'll keep trying. In the meantime, my 20 year old belt has years left in it! :beerchug:

Two options:
- get the next smaller belt. They are usually available in 1/2" steps.
- you have belt that works? Take it off and match it with a belt measuring tool -- any good auto parts store should have one.

My repair notes say Dayco 15290.
