Title: 5th Gear Detent Ball Spring & Ball missing

When i went to remove the rear cover on my 365 gearbox ,I discovered the 5th gear Detent Ball and spring were missing. Has this been omitted because the External Reverse Detent Ball performs the same function when 5th is engaged? Or do I have a problem.  I've driven the car and 5th gear engages ok.

I think Banks has the ball and springs.

 Its not a  ball but a plunger. See the pdf image from the Manual. This what is missing.

Yes Dave, they were omitted as the external ball and spring served the same function and also provided resistance for reverse.  If you have an aftermarket lockout, the renault plunger and spring is a better solution (if you can find a set).
