In the pictures you can see a bump in the filler neck casting. I assume the filler hose goes over it and the clamp goes on the flat part of the neck. Not sure what that bump is for.

By any chance is there a corresponding notch in the opening for the filler housing in the car body? Maybe to orient the filler cap hinge? Other than that, dunno.

This might sound odd, but my first impression was that it was a boss to be drilled/tapped for a breather tube to a filter. Mine's just a straight tube but I couldn't say if it's OEM or later addition.

Yup, it’s an undrilled boss for a breather. The hose does not go over it.

Thanks John. Tank is mounted now just connecting the filler hose.

Cool. Learn something new all the time! :beerchug:

Tom, that looks like a TC filler with a flip cap. I thought you were fitting a S2 tank.

All 12 (6 pairs) that I have removed from TCS have a small vent tube there which corresponds to a small notch cut in the fibreglass.
I renew the 50mm (2") rubber tube, but retain the clips, as so far I have not seen a badly corroded clip.
The rusting on the tank tops is a different story. Some tanks have more hole than metal left.

The flip up gas filler came with the car. Ordered a vented unit that will mount to the body as well as flexible 2” hose. Hopefully this will make it easier.
