Title: Clutch fork pin removal
Post by: andy harwood on Monday,August 21, 2017, 05:15:27 PM
In the NG manual, it appears the pins are removed using a slide hammer.  Are there any other methods to do this?
Thanking you in advance for any tips!

There is a special tool with a slide hammer that removes them.  Good luck finding one.  No, vise-grips, and whatever else you were thinking of, won't work.  Drill two holes in the bell housing and knock them out from the backside with a punch.  Fill the holes with silicone afterwards.

Thanks John & BDA for the input.
I thought I remembered reading a post about the removal, but could not find it.
It appears using a standard slide hammer, a way to attach to the pins would have to be made first, none too easy.
With prying, seemed there is not a angle to get a good purchase on the pins.
Seems drilling and using a punch will be the ticket.
Thanks again!

I drilled and punched, but instead of silicone tapped threads and screwed plugs with loctite. Maybe overkill.
