Title: Timing Marks
Post by: Gmg31 on Thursday,May 11, 2017, 05:42:11 AM
Almost two years into this project and I have yet to get this engine running. One big hurdle is the timing marks or rather the lack of timing marks.  Any advice would be very welcome please.

Lotus/Ford TC or Renault?

Timing marks for ignition or cam?

Judging by your "Else" GIF it's a Renault engine.

Find TDC using a piston stop.  Renault gives ignition timing in distance on the flywheel as well as degrees.  1° = 2.2 mm.  For example, 3° = 6.6 mm (roughly 7 mm).

When viewed from the rear of the car facing forward the "advanced" side is to the right of TDC.
