Title: thats expensive
Post by: johnmi on Thursday,November 24, 2016, 07:04:51 AM
I am looking to torque up the rear hubs next weekend and have been pricing up the Loctite 635, it must have gold flakes in it at £160 for 250 ml. does anyone know if there is any difference to the Loctite 638 apart from the curing time, or if there is any need to use it at all.

Thanks for any replies John

Loctite is expensive, but that is a lot of money. However, a 250 ml bottle is way more than you will need, and there is little sense in buying quantity for future use as the stuff has a shelf life. Like all CA products the shelf life can be extended if it is stored in the fridge. However, for best performance one should use fresh product whenever possible. Look for a 50 ml bottle which should be readily available. Amazon has the 50 ml bottle, which is far more than enough, for $45 US.

Agreed, 1/4 litre is way, way more than you will need.  The slow cure time is VERY important!
