Title: Fuel sender gasket source?
Post by: Clifton on Tuesday,May 31, 2016, 05:21:44 PM
While I have it apart I would like to replace it. Does anyone have a US source or cross reference for another car? I know  SJS has the gasket but I would like to avoid shipping this from the UK.

If its a standard Smiths sender unit, then any of the British car shops should have it.  MGB's from March of 1966 to 1980 use a plain flat ring type gasket (ie for a sender without screw fixings).   The Elan tanks that I'm fabricating for some friends use the screw type sender, which again isn't anything special (MG TD, MGA etc).

+1  Any British car parts place will have it: Moss, Victoria British, British Parts NW, etc.

I bought a 1970 MG gasket from RockAuto, $3.33 shipped. Part number was ARA1502J. I also bought a brass float for a Mustang off Ebay.

Nifty and thrifty.
The brass Mustang float on mine still works well.
