Title: Front bearing grease
Post by: Runningwild on Monday,October 05, 2015, 04:38:51 PM
Now that I have everything apart I'll start rebuilding. What is the best wheel bearing grease to use with the Europa?  I've got all the new parts lined up on the bench. Xmas came early for the Lotus. Thanks  Tom

Any good quality bearing grease from the local parts store will suffice.

A while ago, I heard that Kendall made some blue grease that was really good. That's what I used on my car. I used to  use moly grease. That actually is better for sliding friction and I use that for my trunnions. A college classmate of mine worked at a Shell grease plant (where they made 1/2 the world's grease!). He said that moly grease would beat out oil in a sliding application like a trunnion by a large margin - though there is some controversy and some still prefer the gear oil. Where was I... Oh! Wheel bearing grease! I think that any good wheel bearing grease from a major manufacturer like Valvoline, Kendall, Shell, etc. would be fine since grease technology has advanced a lot more than wheel bearings! Just make sure you do a good job of packing them! I always do it by hand. I trusted a gizmo once and ended up burning up some bearings.
