sorry if some of my questions seem daft but I didn't get to take my car apart, it arrived in many boxes!! My water pump has come back from vapour blasting and I've noticed two holes in the case, there's no thread and when I blow through them the breath exits via other holes so if I connect this up as it is I'm guessing it will leak. Any one know what should be connected to these and how please.

If I understand you, when you blow in one hole, it exits out the other - but not out the water passages, right? Water pumps have a weep hole between the seal and the bearings so if the seal fails, you get notice to do something before the bearings fail. Usually, there's only one of these so the fact that you seem to have two confuses me. Maybe there are two weep holes for different orientations(?). Just a guess.

It's on the right side of the water pump seal so it doesn't matter. Old pump may leak when put into service though.

Ok that makes sense thanks. It blows through to the main water pipe so clearly the seal is goosed. Glad I checked before fitting. Thanks for your advice.

So I guess the next question has to be how hard is it to take a water pump apart and recondition it?

Buy a new one. Seals and bearing units are not readily available.
