Title: Bonnet & engine cover foam etc
Post by: phil on Sunday,June 07, 2015, 02:55:15 AM
Hello all,

Does anyone have a photo of the engine cover and bonnet showing where the foam strips are attached please?

Also should the TC have sun visors, mine has not?

Theres lots to find out about the TC still, there does not seem to be much info out there, can anyone suggest a book showing all the details please?
Regards and thanks

Phil

Yes, the TC came with sun visors.

Alas there aren't any books that thoroughly cover the Europa.  It's included in quite a few books on the Lotus but you need to have many books and magazine articles to get photos covering most parts and angles.  I collect period publications on the S1 and S2 Europas but not on the TC/Special.

Phil,

Look thru the 'Member Cars' and 'Photo Gallery' sections of this website - you may find photos of what you are looking for.  I could post some photos of mine - presently, they are out of the car.

Books specific to the Europa are indeed sparse. The first two photos are the ones that I've collected over the years. The most comprehensive one is the book by Paul Robinshaw and Dave Francis.

The foam strip for both the front and rear deck lids separate the front space for the radiator and spare tire from the front plenum. For the rear, the luggage box from the engine bay.

I'll second the Robinshaw & Francis paperback as the most complete Europa reference book.

The other suggestion (if you don't have it already) is for an official Parts List. Not something you'd use for bedtime reading, but Parts Manuals do have the definitive list of what should be in the car and I find the exploded diagrams quite helpful at times. Print, laminate and it's a handy reference for the bench when you're putting something back together for the first time.

The foam strip... For the rear, the luggage box from the engine bay.
Plus there is/was a second strip at the back of the rear luggage tray. The ghost of which can be seen in Joji's picture. When I tried to put a piece of foam of the same dimensions as the others at the back of the luggage tray, my deck lid would not shut. Not sure how thick it should be?

Many thanks for all the help, Ive just ordered the Robinshaw & Francis book.

Ive also checked the parts book, I now need two sun visors,  left hand and a right hand visor arms.
Where does it all end?

Very neat headlining in there Joe, it looks far better than OEM.   Full marks to whoever did that job, great work.

Yes indeed, a very tidy cabin there, Joe. Nicely done.

While I would like to take credit for the work, it's not mine. I think I got these pictures from Grumblebuns (Joji). I needed some pictures to see how my car goes back together.

Well, as much as I would like to have my interior look like that, it's not mine either.
